A green katydid and I are engaged in a compulsive dance, caught in a feedback loop where the movement and behaviour of each protagonist is simultaneously leading, and being lead, by the another. Some insect compulsion drives the katydid to move persistently to the left, while some human motive compels me to move it back to the right.
